Some of you may have noticed a curious sentence in the About section: “Although the narration includes transformations of some sorts of certain characters, it’s not entirely based on it.”. The sentence was put in purposely, and now I’ll explain why.
When I started thinking about the book, I thought putting transformations in was fit to idea I had in mind, but I always thought about it as something that is functional to the narration, and not the other way. Before Too joined the project, I was looking for an artist that could work on the ideas I had in mind. While searching, I happened to find a few “underground” sites that dealt with the theme of transformations. I browsed quite a few of them, but I wasn’t really pleased with what I saw: even if I saw some talented people, all focused on the act more than the story and the concept, wasting so many interesting ideas and talent. Even worse, there is a somewhat irritating continous reference to some sexual themes and depiction.
I’m not really a puritan person, but I can say that stuff gets really old after a while. Basically, most of the stuff that is found there just focuses on the act, something I always wanted to avoid from the start. This book is made to tell a story (even if unoriginal and cliched), not a simple description to appease a minority.
